Assistance League of Tulsa
Serving with Compassion: A Partnership of Service and Love
At John Knox Presbyterian Church, we are called to serve our neighbors with love and dignity—and one of the ways our members have answered that call is through faithful volunteer work with the Assistance League® Tulsa.
This nonprofit organization is dedicated to improving the lives of children and families in our community through hands-on programs and services. Church members have supported this mission by sorting donated items for resale at Bargains ALOT Thrift Store, a vital source of funding for the League’s outreach initiatives. Whether preparing shelves, organizing merchandise, or welcoming customers, our volunteers helped create a warm, respectful environment that extends the spirit of Christ into the everyday.
Through the Operation School Bell program, church members also had the joy of helping children shop for new school clothes—ensuring they returned to class with confidence and dignity. For many of these children, it was their first opportunity to choose brand-new outfits, and the experience became a moment of empowerment and encouragement.
As we reflect on these acts of service, we celebrate the opportunity to be part of a mission that uplifts lives and shares God’s love in practical ways.
“Being involved in the Assistance League has taught me many things about giving like helping a child find new shoes – seeing them so happy gives me joy!”
