Who We Are as Presbyterians?

Rooted in Scripture. Guided by Grace. Called to Serve.

At John Knox Presbyterian Church, we are part of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)—a Christ-centered, Reformed tradition committed to worship, education, service, and justice.

We believe faith grows in community and that every person has a place in the life of the church.

God is Sovereign

God created all things and holds all things together in love. We trust God’s grace is present and active in our lives—even before we’re aware of it.

“The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it.” — Psalm 24:1

Jesus Christ is Lord

Through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, we are forgiven, made new, and reconciled to God. Jesus is our teacher, Savior, and model for how to live.

“In Christ, God was reconciling the world to himself.” — 2 Corinthians 5:19

The Bible is the Word of God

Scripture is inspired by God and serves as our guide for faith and life. We read it thoughtfully, in community, trusting the Holy Spirit to lead us.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” — Psalm 119:105

Faith is Lived in Community

We are called to worship, learn, and serve together. The church is the body of Christ, and every member is needed and valued.

“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” — 1 Corinthians 12:27

Salvation is a Gift of Grace

We are saved by God’s grace—not by anything we do. Our response to that grace is a life of gratitude, love, and service.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith…” — Ephesians 2:8

We Are Called to Justice and Compassion

Faith calls us to action. We speak out for the vulnerable, care for our neighbors, and work toward a more loving, equitable world. Learn more about the Presbyterian Church (USA)’s commitment to social witness and compassionate service.

“Let us love not with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” — 1 John 3:18

Presbyterians are governed by a body of elected elders, both pastors and laypeople, reflecting our belief in shared responsibility and Spirit-led decision-making.

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others.” — 1 Peter 4:10

At John Knox, you are welcome. Bring your questions, your story, and your gifts. There’s a place for you here.
