Reverend Dr. Daniel Milford – Pastor
Rev. Dr. Dan Milford (he/him) is deeply grateful that the Good News of God’s love and grace is truly for all people. Throughout his ministry, Dan has been passionate about helping the church become a place of genuine welcome—especially for those who have historically felt excluded, unheard, or alienated. He is committed to embracing people of every background, culture, and identity, including those navigating mental health challenges, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and anyone seeking a renewed connection with faith.
Dan has served congregations in Texas, South Carolina, and Oklahoma. Prior to coming to John Knox, he was Pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church in San Antonio, TX. He previously served as Associate Pastor at Lake Murray Presbyterian Church in Chapin, SC, and as Pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Sand Springs, OK.
He is a graduate of Texas A&M University and Columbia Theological Seminary, where he earned both his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees.
A gifted teacher, Dan especially enjoys leading confirmation classes, newcomer classes, and engaging conversations with those who are curious about Christianity or seeking to grow in their faith. He has a particular interest in helping people explore the rich and productive dialogue between science and faith. He is also energized by ministries that put Christian faith into action through service, justice, and witness.
Over the past decade, Dan has developed a deep passion for mental health ministry. He helped lead the “Beautiful Minds” initiative and worked to create a broader emphasis on mental health across the Presbyterian Church. In recognition of this work, Columbia Theological Seminary presented him with the Distinguished Service Award in 2020. His heart for mental health ministry reflects his conviction that the church must be a place of compassion, understanding, and hope.
Dan has been married to his wife, Nadia Rosales, for 34 years. Together they are the proud parents of three adult children—Austin, Joshua, and Alexis—and delighted grandparents to Marta. As a family, they enjoy traveling, camping, hiking, kayaking, snorkeling, and spending time outdoors together.
Dan is honored to serve at John Knox Presbyterian Church and looks forward to walking alongside this congregation as we continue to welcome all, embrace diversity, and live out Christ’s mission together.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Luke 4:18-19
